Malaysia - My Family

Home is where the heart is...well, mine is divided between the work i do in Battambang and the family i love so much. Where does Malaysia come in? Well, that just happens to be where the WHOLE family gets together for that once in a year occassion - the Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner...and it's the time of year!

More about CNY later, about the family that got together...well, the first hugs from each of my nieces and nephews are the best gifts of life...and the beautiful smiles and recognition (quite hard considering that they meet me only once, maybe twice, a year)...heaven!

Saloma is the youngest of the lot...and her smile melts my heart. Last time i saw her, she was crying and sleeping and feeding a lot...now, she's awake most of the time, walking, just learning to jump, speaking single words, and smiles to kill. She wasn't well the first few days i was here, but she's better now.

I actually published the above half of this post and received accusations from Fay and Lani for not putting up pictures of their kids...which were gonna go up anyway! Well, when Fay arrived from Singapore, we went for a dim sum breakfast...yummy :)

I also managed a visit to my grandparents and here is a beautiful woman..my grandmother. She smiles through all...good and bad. She's a great cook, by the way. Some of her cooking that I always miss include Rasam (Indian tomato & cumin soup), Chicken Curry, Fried Fish marinated with yoghurt and ginger (the best!) and Crab Curry. And she used to make great Indian sweets which are impossible to describe (neiyi worundae, muruku and kaseri were the best).

Hung around the house some more when Lani and her family arrived. Kisha has become such a big sister...loving and gentle with Saloma and Gaia.

All except one...
