Returning Home

I've arrived safely in Battambang and have caught up with things that have been happening in my absence:

1. Sokneng, who is a teacher at Gems, is not well...typhoid. She's recovering but was in terrible health the past week.

2. We had 2 guests staying at our house in my absence...Siti (Elyssa's friend from Australia) and Shabnam. It's too bad i missed Shabnam!

3. School uniforms for our students are almost ready.

4. We have another new student at Gems...i've yet to meet her because classes were over by the time i arrived on Friday.

5. Teachers at Gems have been excitedly planning for the Children's Day to be held in conjunction with Ayyam-i-Há..29 February 2008.

6. Our neighbours were robbed again! It's the 3rd time they were robbed since they moved in in December.

Things i need to get used to each time i return from a trip to Malaysia:

1. Friends telling me that i'm fatter and fairer.

2. No internet connection at my fingertips (mummy is probably glad about that:D)

3. Feeling hungry at wee hours of the night and not having a 'nasi lemak' or junk food to satisfy my expanded appetite.

4. Waking up with loud music blaring from our neighbour across the street.

5. Not having any of the nieces and nephews coming in with the usual morning hugs and kisses for 'Prema ah-ee'.

6. Speaking Khmer without infusing Malay or Chinese words into it..known to happen before and i only realized it when the 'motordup' guy looked at me funny!

7. Dealing in 2 different currencies (USD and Riels), with a third (Ringgit) conversion going on in my head.

Anyway, it's good to be home :D
