More of the Elements

To those who appreciate the beauty of God's creation...the clouds and the moon, in particular...enjoy!

I understood "cloud with a silver lining" only after being in Battambang
Those clouds look like they could be walked on...can almost picture an angel with wings standing on one of 'em puffy ones!
Not sure how to take night shots..but I just love this one!
Is there any other way to capture a picture of a bright moon on a clear night?

So, are any of you motivated to come visit already??!!!

National Convention 2008

The National Convention is the election of the National Spiritual Assembly. Each country has their own elections around the time of Ridvan (21 April). This year, it was conducted from 23 May to 25 May at the Battambang Baha'i center. For more information about the Bahai Faith, go to www.bahai.org

Mystery Ride

Spent a lovely day with Cassie and Ali discussing the philosophies of a Krishnamurthy (guru from the India) just because that's my surname...and took Cassie on the first of two mystery rides...since she was leaving already (left this morning, actually). Mystery Ride was a trip into the paddy fields nearby to watch the sunset. Pictures taken on that memorable day:

From Ali's balcony (before we left for the Mystery Ride)
Mystery Ride started a bit too late...but we enjoyed ourselves, anyway!
Attempt to get a shot of the beautiful sky and this is the result after much meddling with brightness controls...

Rain Clouds and Floods

Rainy days are getting more frequent in lovely old Battambang... some days are nice and on other days...let's just say i was too busy clearing up the water (imagine, i live on the 2nd floor) that entered through ventilation slits (everything else was closed up!) to have the time to take those pictures..they're Andy's.

Thursday's Sky

Ok, i know i'm stalking the sky..but i can't help it when there are such beautiful sceneries in plain view...just have to share it with all of you! I still have Sunday's rain-clouds to share in a day or two...hopefully. Feedback on how to improve picture-taking will be much appreciated. Here's me just clicking away...

Wednesday's Sky

This is the picturesque view i get every evening from my balcony. Imagine how much more beautiful it actually is.. if this is what u get with Prema's lack of skill in taking pictures

On the Street Where i Live

Street going north - the gym and junkyard...causes of noise pollution
Street going south
That corner shop is the hub of buzzing activity. A lady sells porridge in the morning(where the white car is parked) and you can see her setting up her stall at 5:30am. Motordob (motor-taxis) riders taking positions to pick up customers to go to the market...in fact, just this morning, at 6am, the whole neighbourhood could tell that one of them had trouble starting up his motorbike. Not to discount the amount of socializing goes on all day with the gambling they do there!!

Street going east - The red building on the left is the Cambodian National Bank. The blue building on the right is the Newton Thillay School (learn English by the hour place) and this crossroad is a road hazard at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm...class transitions!

Sorry to disappoint you...no pics of street going west just yet...you'll get to see the sunsets in the next blog entry! However, i was observing these 2 kids just below our building and they were so engrossed in their archaeological discovery they didn't notice i was watching them, taking pics of them and video-ing them. It was a delight watching them, i must say...they even had their tools ready!

Security at home

Latest additions around the house...it's a total eye-sore but definitely necessary after the incident almost 2 weeks ago. While i do enjoy feeling safe, i'm beginning to feel claustrophobic with all the doors closed at night...gone are the nights when i could just lie out on a mat on my balcony till morning..sigh!
The once safe veranda
Grilles and barbed wires...what next?!!!
Safety hazard...open rooftop.
